The Dead Space franchise has been quite a favorite of gaming fans. Owing to rich graphics, great story line and interactive game-play, the Dead Space franchise has stolen hearts and minds of millions of people out there.

However, the recent absence of new Dead Space game, namely Dead Space 4, and silence surrounding its arrival or development, has made many fans worry about the future of Dead Space franchise. In order to address the people’s concerns, EA sports has said that Dead Space is still ‘important’ for the company. According to Visceral Games manager, Steve Papoutsis, a Dead Space 4 for Xbox One and Playstation 4 is likely.

Steve Papoutsis has said the following about the franchise:

“Is Dead Space dead? Not for me it’s not.  I love it, the team at Visceral loves it. There’s a lot of passion about that franchise, not just from me but from others in the company. So I think it’s an IP that’s important for the company. You never know where it’s going to go… I’d definitely be excited about what it would be like on this [generation of consoles].”

Perhaps the very reason Dead Space fans have been sulky and vexed is that Dead Space 3 did not meet the anticipated sales target that EA had set and the developers were switched to focusing on the Battlefield franchise. Consequently, fans deciphered that EA has lost interest and focus on the Dead Space franchise and that it might never develop another Dead Space game.

While EA’s shift of focus from Dead Space franchise is justified since game development requires a gargantuan amount of money, and in case of failure or whatever you can call it, a game studio has to take measures to control the outcome.

Dead Space 3, however, was critically acclaimed and EA itself said that the franchise is a ‘great brand’ implying that the franchise is not something that EA would just scrap because of one rock in its path.

Although, we or anyone out there except EA knows whether Dead Space 4 is in development or when it will hit the markets, but in light of EA’s recent statements, it is easy to say that Dead Space 4 will come in the future.
